 Training in the traditional art of Capoeira Angola of Bahia - with Contra Mestre Perere. Lessons include learning of capoeira music and song forms, fully exploring concepts of capoeira angola game play, strategy, philosophy, and folklore, as well as a fully developed system and approach to self-defense/martial arts, tumbling, dance, physical conditioning and activated body/movement which has been designed and stewarded over generations to enable and develop a full-spectrum of physiological and mental capacity. Ongoing weekly training sessions held in Portland, Oregon. Additional student-group locations in North America.  About the Instructor- Contra Mestre Perere (a.k.a. Eric Michael Johnson) Perere found capoeira way back in the 20th century circa:1989 after earlier years training in various martial & tumbling arts. He began making journeys down to Bahia Brazil in 1991 to learn capoeira angola and play in many capoeira rodas and has returned to Bahia many times since to continue to develop and explore this art. Perere began teaching capoeira at his mestre's request in 1993 and has since developed several capoeira groups over the years. He began studying under Mestre Nô (legendary master of capoeira angola of Bahia) in 1998, eventually earning the graduation of Contra Mestre under Mestre Nô. Perere has been one of the first few adepts to receive the graduation of Contra Mestre in the art of capoeira angola outside of Brazil. He has trained several competent instructors who now lead groups of their own all around the world. Perere is a stuntman for films & live festivals and also stunt performance instructor (for the International Stuntschool ) and has been getting set on fire and jumping off high ledges for many years. He also practices koryu bujutsu, and enthusiastically pursues learning about & practicing sustainable primitive/aboriginal living skills, archery, and the Western & Eastern occult/metaphysica. In all his teaching roles his instructing style utilizes a diverse array of lessons, safety awareness, technical proficiency - and above all, lots of humor. Contra Mestre Perere is available for workshops and seminars for interested groups and martial arts schools. Open to the public weekly training sessions for all levels are held Monday evenings in S.E. Portland, OR.
